The project will cost approximately $7 million and will be funded in several ways.

Council has been offered funding from the Federal Government for shovel ready projects and $800,000 of these funds will be used towards the construction of a new community facility.

Council also owns several buildings at Henley Beach that have been identified as under-utilised or surplus to Council requirements. The following buildings would be sold to fund the project:

  • 318 Seaview Road Henley Beach (former Colton electoral Office).
  • 194(a) Military Road Henley Beach (current community centre). This building would only be sold once the new community hub has opened to ensure the community centre can continue to operate.
  • 136 North street Henley Beach (current tenanted residential property).
