About our 2022/23 Playground Renewals

We will be renewing 6 playgrounds throughout the City of Charles Sturt for the 2022/23 financial year.

The Urban Design Team created draft concept plans for each of the playgrounds earlier this year and we consulted with you in March & April to hear your thoughts on the draft plans and what was important to you about these spaces.

The playgrounds being renewed which we consulted with you on were:

• Wastell Reserve, Arthur Street - Pennington
• Wilford Reserve, Wilford Avenue - Seaton
• Croydon Avenue Reserve, William Street - Croydon
• Nedford Reserve, Nedford Crescent - Fulham Gardens
• George Jones Reserve, Riverway - Fulham Gardens
• Santiago Reserve, Santiago Street - West Lakes Shore

All playground renewal designs have now been finalised and will be commencing construction in a staged approach. Wastell and Wilford reserves were the first to be finalised and released, and construction commenced in mid-November 2022. The remaining four playgrounds - Croydon Avenue Reserve, Nedford Reserve, George Jones Reserve and Santiago Reserve - are expected to commence construction from late-January/February 2023.

A reminder that the renewal was for the playground structure and play space only. A reminder the financial resources available for these projects did not include changes to or the addition of any other infrastructure in the reserve eg shade structures, toilets, BBQ, turf or irrigation (with the exception of Croydon Avenue Reserve which received Government funding for new shade sails).
