Outcomes of Consultation & Next Steps

19 August 2026

Thank you to everyone who participated in our second round of consultation for the Mitton Avenue Pedestrian and Traffic Safety Improvements project.

Stage 2 consultation was open from 26 June to 17 July 2026 and invited the community to provide feedback on a range of potential design ideas that could be implemented along Mitton Avenue. We had 20 online submissions and 4 written responses. These design ideas were presented to help gauge community sentiment and understand local priorities for improving safety, accessibility and amenity.

Overall, feedback indicated strong support for improvements to Mitton Avenue. Community sentiment was largely driven by concerns about traffic safety, parking congestion, visibility at intersections and pedestrian access, particularly around schools, local businesses and key crossing points.

Participants generally supported measures such as traffic calming treatments, safer pedestrian crossings, improved walking paths and additional landscaping. Feedback also highlighted the importance of maintaining on-street parking where possible, recognising its value to residents, businesses and visitors, while protecting residential access and neighbourhood amenity.

A summary report detailing the outcomes of both consultation stages is now available to view online.

Next Steps

We will come back to the community once a draft concept plan is developed, to seek further input about whether the design meet your expectations.
