Proposal of Grange and West Lakes Bowling Clubs amalgamation

19 January 2026

Jubilee Reserve

The Grange and West Lakes Bowling Clubs have recently met with the City of Charles Sturt to discuss a proposal to amalgamate into a single club and relocate to Grange Bowling Club as its new home.

Both clubs voted in majority support for this proposal to be presented to Council for further consideration.

A report will be provided to Council for consideration at the next Council Meeting on Tuesday 27 January.

This report will ask Council to consider whether it wishes to:

  • progress a formal offer to acquire the Grange Bowling Club land, and
  • support the proposed amalgamation of the Grange and West Lakes Bowling Clubs.

If Council supports progressing the proposal, it will then move through further governance processes, including consideration by the Audit and Risk Committee, before returning to Council for final consideration on 9 February 2026.

No final decisions have been made at this stage.

What does this mean for Jubilee Reserve planning?

Work on the Jubilee Reserve Redevelopment Opportunity is continuing and remains focused on understanding community needs and priorities. This includes:

  • finalising the Community Engagement Summary Report, based on consultation completed prior to Christmas, and
  • continuing discussions with the project architects to explore future options for the site.

If the bowling club amalgamation proposal proceeds, it would result in the new club being based at Grange in the longer term, creating additional space at Jubilee Reserve.

Should this occur, we would revisit the design process and re-engage site users and other stakeholders to ensure any future planning reflects the changed site context. In that circumstance, a proposed Community Engagement Approach will be brought to Council for consideration on the 23rd of February 2026, together with recommendations relating to the lodgement of an application for the $5,000,000 Federal Grant.
