We received 170 submissions from the community about the amendment to the Mirani Court CLMP. 164 submissions (96%) were in support of the proposed amendment, 5 submissions (3%) did not support the proposed amendment, and 1 submission (1%) was unsure.

The themes in support of the proposal included:

• Support for local small business and economic activation.
• Increased vibrancy and activation of the coastal precinct.
• Creation of additional opportunities for community gathering and social connection.
• Improved amenity for reserve users, walkers and cyclists.
• Increased dining capacity for an already well-utilised community facility.
• Enhanced utilisation of an underused paved area.
• Improved opportunities for outdoor dining and enjoyment of the coastal environment.

There were several concerns raised about:

• Potential noise impacts.
• Driver and pedestrian safety.
• The appearance and management of outdoor furniture.
• The potential service of alcohol within the outdoor dining area.

The concerns raised can be addressed and managed through any future outdoor dining licence or permit.

A report is being presented to the Strategic and Engagement Committee on Monday 20 July 2026 recommending that the changes to the CLMP at Mirani Court be adopted. You can read the full report here and the community engagement summary report is available to read in the document library.
