Final Outcomes and Construction

The City of Charles Sturt sought your feedback in November/December 2021 to determine the community desire for public amenities along the Grange Lakes Corridor/Shared Use Path. We received 60 survey responses in total, with 51 responses in support of the proposed amenities and 9 responses not supporting the proposal.

A report on the consultation outcomes was presented to the Asset Management Committee on 21 February 2022, Item 4.02. This report can be viewed via the City of Charles Sturt Asset Management Committee Meeting Agenda & Minutes page.

At its meeting of 28 February 2022, Council endorsed the following motion based on the above report:

Motion:

1. That the report be received and noted.

2. That the results of community engagement for a proposed new public toilet along the Grange Lakes Shared Use Path as outlined in Appendix B, be noted.

3. That the proposed location of and plans for the new public toilet along the Grange Lakes Shared Use Path, as outlined in Appendix A be endorsed.

4. That Council considers funding of $230,000 for the construction of a new public toilet along the Grange Lakes Corridor, in its 2022/23 budget preparations.

5. That the community be notified of the results of the community engagement and Council's decision regarding the design of the new public toilet, and that the construction is subject to funding being approved in the 2022/23 budget process.

Following the 2022/23 budget process, we can now confirm that funding has been approved. We anticipate that construction will occur between January and April 2023.

The public amenities will consist of an automated public toilet which will provide a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for users. With vandal resistant fixtures and surfaces, automated daily locking and unlocking, and access facilities for people with disabilities, they are one of the best options for public facilities.
