An inclusive and accessible viewing platform is proposed for consideration in Mirani Court Reserve. At this stage, we are only seeking your feedback to understand the level of support for the proposed viewing platform.

The proposed viewing platform would be a minimum of 3m high and allow people living with a disability to enjoy the views of the coast during activities in the reserve.

Proposed Location and Materials

The proposed location for the platform has been chosen to maximise coastal views and connections to nearby footpath and disability parking facilities while also minimising the extent of structure required.

The final location for the platform however is subject to community feedback and there is certainly flexibility to amend the location to create a balanced outcome for users and nearby residents.

Council is also in conversation with the Department for Environment & Water (DEW) to explore any other opportunities to locate the platform further west towards the dunes.

The materials used to construct the platform are still to be confirmed. Those shown in the image are indicative only and subject to detailed design and final feedback. Where possible we prefer to use recycled composite materials for these structures due to the environmental benefits they provide and ability to withstand the harsh coastal conditions.

To provide your feedback on this initiative, please complete our online survey below.

Feedback is to be received by 20 February 2022.

What happens next?

Following the conclusion of consultation, Council will consider if there is support for the viewing platform. If there is support a future budget will be included for construction in the 2022/23 financial year.

We look forward to obtaining community feedback to understand the level of support for this initiative.
