Lamont Street, Renown Park - Road Reconstruction

Lamont Street (between Torrens Road and Flanders Street) is reaching the end of its life and is planned to be reconstructed in 2019/20 by the Cities of Charles Sturt and Port Adelaide Enfield.

While planning for a road reconstruction we also like to investigate traffic safety at the same time to ensure that resident concerns have been captured and traffic impacts assessed to meet current and future demand.

Lamont Street is the boundary street of Port Adelaide Enfield Council and City of Charles Sturt in Renown Park.

As part of the road reconstruction and traffic design, we are proposing the following:

  • Renewal and reinstatement of all kerb and gutter (Charles Sturt side)
  • Renewal of stormwater pipes (if required) before removing the old pavement.
  • Increasing the verge width on southern side of Lamont Street (Charles Sturt side) to provide travel lanes more appropriate to the current and expected future use of the street.
  • Opportunities for additional tree planting and landscaping (Charles Sturt side)
  • Footpath repairs, to damaged sections that are required (Charles Sturt side)
  • Realigning the Tait Street/Lamont intersection to a more standard T intersection to ensure safety for those entering and exiting the street
  • Replacement of the kerb between Days Road and Vauxhall Street and repairs to parts of the kerb between Lamont Street and Flanders Street (PAE side).
  • Upgrade to existing kerb ramps where required to improve pedestrian accessibility and ensure Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) compliance.
  • Improved alignment at the Days Road / Lamont Street intersection

A concept plan and visual images of what the street could look like is enclosed for your review.
