Final Update - Reserve upgrade to commence

4 August 2025

Stormwater Mitigation Update

Works are practically completed at Gleneagles Reserve in Seaton to improve stormwater management and reduce flooding risks in the surrounding area.

The stormwater flood mitigation project is co-funded by the Disaster Ready Fund (Federal Government), the Stormwater Management Authority, and the City of Charles Sturt. Construction is now nearing completion.

Key details include:

  • Hydroseeding: The basin will be hydroseeded once weather conditions are suitable. To protect the newly seeded grass, temporary fencing or another type of barrier may be installed for approximately 8-10 weeks to allow vegetation to establish.
  • Pump Station Artwork: The pump station chambers on Dumfries Avenue will be covered with artwork (artist Cat Dean has been appointed) to improve the reserve’s visual appeal.

Reserve Upgrade in 2025/26

During community consultation from December 2022 to February 2023 on the stormwater detention project for Gleneagles Reserve, we noted future reserve improvement suggestions received from community. This feedback led to approximately $600,000 being allocated to upgrade Gleneagles Reserve between July 2025 and June 2026.

The reserve upgrades reflect the community priorities identified in the feedback you shared with us, which are highlighted below, followed by the reserve upgrade concept plan.

The upgrade works are expected to commence in or around October 2025, with the public toilet artwork installation expected before the end of this year (December 2025).

Approximately $600,000 has been allocated in this financial year’s budget for upgrades to Gleneagles Reserve. These upgrades reflect the priorities identified through community feedback and include:

  • Installation of a new, single-use, automated, and secure toilet facility for park and reserve users
  • Construction of two picnic shelters with picnic settings
  • An electric BBQ
  • A new shade sail over the existing playspace (already completed)
  • Minor turf and landscaping improvements, with no tree removals
  • Creation of new accessible pedestrian entries into the reserve, and a new connecting pathway to enhance access throughout the reserve and to key amenities

The previous engagement summary is available on the project page.
