Our draft Economic Development Strategy captures the ideas, thoughts and aspirations of our businesses and community to build upon our strong foundations and capabilities and capitalise on new and emerging opportunities to deliver long-term, inclusive and sustainable growth.

Four pillars will guide our efforts

Our Strategy will come to life through four key pillars:

  • Business Friendly
  • Diverse and Advanced Economy
  • Knowledge and Innovation
  • Vibrant and Liveable City.

Within these pillars we have a range of key initiatives to guide our future economic development efforts.

Four sectors add high value to our economy

Four key growth sectors have been identified that add high value to our economy and provide the complexity for future economic growth, these include the following:

  • Urban Development
  • Tourism
  • Defence and Advanced Manufacturing
  • Health.

Your feedback will inform our Strategy

We encourage local businesses and residents to provide feedback on our Draft Economic Development Strategy 2022 - 2026 by 5.00pm on Friday 8 July 2022.

There are a number of ways you can provide feedback on the Draft Strategy to Council:

  • Online: We encourage you to complete the above online feedback form.

Alternatively, please provide your feedback via email or post.

  • By email: Write to us at urbanprojects@charlessturt.sa.gov.au , clearly mark the subject as ‘Draft Economic Development Strategy 2022-2026’.
  • By post: Write to the Chief Executive Officer, City of Charles Sturt, PO Box 1, Woodville SA 5011 and clearly mark the subject as Draft Economic Development Strategy 2022-2026’.

When will the Economic Development Strategy take effect?

After community consultation has closed, feedback will be collated to inform amendments to the draft Strategy. The final Strategy will then be presented to our Elected Members for Council endorsement.

It is anticipated that the Economic Development Growth Strategy will be endorsed by 30 August 2022.

    An opportunity for business owners and operators to share with us their future aspirations and needs so we can understand how to can better support your business.

    Prepare draft Economic Development Strategy (March - April 2022)

    Our team will review feedback received and prepare a draft Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan.

  • Timeline item 3 - active

    Community consultation on Draft Strategy (June - July 2022)

    We will invite our community, stakeholders and businesses to share their feedback on the Draft Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan.

  • Timeline item 4 - active

    Roundtables with local businesses, stakeholders and sectors (June 2022)

    An opportunity to unpack the draft Economic Development Strategy and review the action plan.

  • Timeline item 5 - incomplete

    Finalise Strategy (Mid 2022)

    A full report on our proposed Economic Development Strategy will be presented to Council incorporating feedback from consultation.

    Launch our Economic Development Strategy (Mid 2022)

    Launch and circulate our Economic Development Strategy and Action Plan to community, stakeholders and businesses.
