Introduction
Introduction
The City Plan is the spatial representation of the City of Charles Sturt Community Vision 2040: A place to call home, a place where we belong.
Our Community Vision creates a clear and collective understanding for the future of our City. It is a public commitment to work together to make our shared vision a reality. The City Plan does not replace or reopen the Community Vision; rather, it helps spatially interpret how its themes and outcomes can be realised across the City.
Background
Background
Built from an extensive evidence base of Council’s existing strategies, plans, investigations and community insights, the City Plan identifies a focused set of Key Directions for where Council should lead, invest, investigate, partner and advocate. Together, these directions seek to manage growth and renewal while protecting the qualities we all value and ensuring infrastructure, open space, movement networks and community facilities keep pace with change.
The City Plan considers both the physical conditions that can be mapped and the social, cultural and communicative conditions that enable people to feel welcome, informed, connected and able to shape the places they call home.

- Key Directions Report - translating the Community Vision into a clear set of 20 place-based key directions and a spatial framework for the future of the City.
The key directions in the City Plan are organised under the five Community Vision themes and identify where Council will lead, invest, investigate, partner and advocate across neighbourhoods, centres, renewal areas, infrastructure, natural systems and movement networks.
Plan Delivery
Delivery
Delivery will require coordinated action by Council, the State Government, landowners, service providers, community organisations and other partners. Priorities will be refined through implementation planning, funding decisions, further investigations and ongoing monitoring as conditions change.
The City Plan is intended to be a dynamic document and will
be reviewed as new information and data becomes available.
