Upgrades happening in Carnegie Reserve, Royal Park

  • A new shelter and seating area

A new covered seating area is coming in 2026/27. It will give visitors a comfortable, shaded place to sit and relax – perfect for families having a picnic, parents watching their kids play, or anyone needing a shaded spot to rest while using the reserve.

You can see the location of the new shelter and seating area on the concept plan below.

  • Sports Lighting Upgrade

The sports lighting at Carnegie Reserve will soon be upgraded to improve safety, support club games and training activities, encourage greater community use of the reserve, and enhance passive surveillance throughout the area.

The lighting upgrade works are scheduled to commence from early November 2026.

Proposed public toilet facilities

Following requests from local residents, we are seeking feedback from the community on a proposal to install public toilet facilities at Carnegie Reserve.

The soccer club has toilets, but they're only available when the clubrooms are open. New public toilets would provide visitors with more convenient access to facilities when enjoying the reserve.

We are considering two potential locations and would like to hear your thoughts. The proposed new public toilets would provide an accessible, durable and low-maintenance facility designed with safety, visibility and ease of maintenance in mind.

OPTION 1: Northern Location

A twin-cubicle public toilet is proposed with an overall footprint of approximately 30 square metres, including surrounding paths and landscaping.

Benefits -

  • A brief walk (approx. 260 metres from the soccer club).
  • Convenient for soccer families, dog walkers and people using Carnegie Reserve North.
  • Easy access for cleaning and maintenance.

Things to consider -

  • Further from the playground, tennis courts and basketball half-court.
  • Less convenient for people using the southern end of the reserve.
  • Would take up some existing green space.

OPTION 2: Southern Location

A single-cubicle public toilet is proposed with an overall footprint of approximately 23 square metres, including surrounding paths and landscaping.

Benefits -

  • A short walk (approx. 160 metres from the soccer club).
  • Convenient for families using the playground, tennis courts and basketball half-court.
  • Easy access for cleaning and maintenance.

Things to consider -

  • Further from Carnegie Reserve North.
  • Less convenient for dog walkers and people using the northern end of the reserve.
  • Would take up some existing green space.
