What is happening?

We are exploring an exciting opportunity to reimagine Bulahdelah Reserve — transforming it from a simple green space into a thriving, biodiverse landscape.

By reintroducing threatened plant species and promoting native, coastal and Indigenous vegetation, the reserve can become a flourishing, living landscape for insects, birds and other wildlife.

This will not only enhance local biodiversity but also create an outdoor learning environment — a place where the community can explore, discover, and connect with nature through education and play.

Join us in shaping the future of this space by sharing your thoughts and ideas by 5pm Sunday 14 December 2025 to guide future opportunities at Bulahdelah Reserve.

What is biodiversity and why is it important?

Why Bulahdelah Reserve?

Located in West Lakes Shore, Bulahdelah Reserve is a valued local open space with existing natural features.

The reserve includes mostly formal garden beds and tree planting around its perimeter, with a central turf (grass) area for recreation. However, due to its proximity to main arterial roads, use of the reserve for recreational purposes is limited.

Its coastal setting and proximity to other green spaces make it ideal for planting native species suitable to the local environment, supporting local wildlife, and improving the overall amenity for nearby residents.
