What's happening?
We'll be replacing the entire playground between July 2026 and June 2027. The new playground will be a 'like for like' replacement - meaning it won't be larger or include extra play areas, but it will have new, modern play equipment. This may include a more exciting design, different play activities, or even a special theme while keeping the same overall size and play experience.
You're invited to share your feedback now, so we can understand what's most important to you about playgrounds you visit, how you like to play, and how you like them to look.
Read on to learn more, then get involved by completing the online feedback activity. We also have a printed activity book to enable young and creative people to participate - or really anyone young at heart - and we appreciate your support to visit a participating location in the city where they can be involved, or to collect and return a book by 15 October 2025.
The feedback you share will be used to help shape the new playground, which will be there for the next 15 to 20 years.
If you're already familiar with the reserve and playground, feel free to skip ahead to Share Feedback Now.
About the reserve
Albert Greenshields Reserve is located on Torrens Road and Greenshields Place in Ridleyton. It offers a variety of features for community to enjoy including:
- A playground
- Basketball half court
- Public toilet
- Shelter with picnic setting, seating and bin
- Drinking fountain
- Large, irrigated lawn area and landscaping
- Public lighting.
An enclosed dog park is at the back of the reserve, although dogs can be exercised off-leash in the reserve area provided they stay at least 5m away from the playground and are under effective control. Off-street parking is available in Greenshields Place, and a small car park is accessible off Torrens Road via Homestead Blocks.
The playground is a 'District' level playground. District playgrounds should cater for various age groups. The play equipment and landscape should be innovative and very good quality with the aim of creating unique and appealing play experiences.
