  • I would like to see a skate park

Rate payer asked almost 3 years ago

    Hi

    Thanks for the suggestion.

A skate park isn't being considered as part of the Point Malcolm upgrade.  We are guided by Council’s Open Space Strategy which identifies suitable locations for these facilities.

The closest skate park to Point Malcolm is in Semaphore and there is a BMX track at Aquatic Reserve (Bower Road/Old Port Road).

  • Has a skate park been considered as part of the upgrade?

  • I would like to see gym/exercise equipment set up in the reserve. It would be great to get people involved in fitness

    Thanks for your feedback DK

  • We also live close to the reserve and agree that parking does cause a problem when large events take place. Blocking narrow side streets off Military Road by parking both sides of road causing safety concerns. Toilet facilities are lacking as the only toilet is located at the bottom of the Semaphore Life Saving Club. These or any proposed toilets should be inspected and cleaned regularly. A lovely reserve as it is now we do hope that improvements do not cause a future overcrowding problem.

    Hi

We have been receiving comments with regards to the amount of parking that is available. It is being investigated how the existing car park can be upgraded to better utilise the space and therefore increase the capacity and efficiency of the car park.

  • I am a social bike rider and a walker. I also take my Grandies to Point Malcolm Reserve on occasions. I can`t really see what you need to change. Happy with it, as it is. Please spend the money on the proposed bike/walking track extension, Thank you Sue

    Hi Suzanne

The City of Charles Sturt Open Space Strategy identifies strategic upgrade of the reserve linked to the renewal of aging assets. The upgrade will accommodate regional users and  is partly funded from state government. The Open Space Strategy identifies Pt Malcom as an important regional reserve and provide a recreation destination for many residents and visitors.

  • Is there going to be more shading and picnic tables spread around the park. A couple of more doggie poo bags stations at different entrances to the park

Dk asked almost 3 years ago

Thanks for the question and great suggestion.  Shading, seating and dog poo bags have been mentioned regularly throughout the consultation so far and will be considered in the new design.

  • Will there be more shade provided - for both the playground & other areas?

Katie asked about 3 years ago

Thanks for the question.  We are currently gathering people’s feedback on what they would like to see as part of the new upgrade.  Many people have commented on the need for more shade particularly in summer.  As part of the design we will be looking at options to include more shade in the upgrade.

  • Are you going to supply car parking as I live in a Close and there is no room for parking both sides of the road. Has caused problems in the past on odd occasions.

Do not have one asked about 3 years ago

There is a parking area adjacent to the Surf Life Saving Club.  The entry and signage for the car park will be improved as part of the upgrade.

  • Has the council thought about installing a new playground fence so the kids don't go running off? There has just been a new playground go up on Torrens rd at st clair with no fence and the playground slopes down toward the main rd. I think it's an accident waiting to happen. Henley square is another risk area where there is a playspace that attracts children (ie the water feature) but there is no protection from stopping them running on to the main rd which is only metres away.

Claire asked about 3 years ago

    Thanks for the question Claire.

The playground won't be fenced as the proposed location of the playground will be approximately 80 metres from Military road.  The existing fence on Military road will be retained and upgraded.

  • I regularly use the tennis courts at the reserve, are they planned to remain or upgraded?

Mr C Lucas asked about 3 years ago

Thanks for the question, yes the tennis courts will be retained
