Now seeking comments on final plans

The City of Charles Sturt used community input from local residents and businesses together with consultants to develop a Concept Plan for the Bartley Terrace Streetscape upgrade.

The project is a road safety initiative being undertaken in the West Lakes Shore area. We consider it vital that a plan is prepared to address road safety concerns along the length of the road.

In May 2015 a streetscape upgrade plan was developed. We have now refined the plan based on community feedback and are seeking your final comments.

By providing grants, Charles Sturt is turning the transformation of public spaces over to the community – the residents, visitors and businesses who know their streets, parks, footpaths and other areas intimately.

    What does Place Makers fund?

Place Makers aims to not just rejuvenate public spaces and streets, but to invigorate thinking about what makes a public space great. It is a great opportunity to try out a good idea that may lead to a more permanent project.

Here are some ideas to get you started:

    • a picnic or street party with your neighbors or businesses
    • taking over a vacant shop for a short period to run a design inspired business
    • chalk art in the streets
    • performing arts in the park
    • projections and paste-ups on buildings
    • temporary sculpture park
    • business side-walk Christmas fair

How much money can I apply for?

The total grant pool is $30,000, allocated in two rounds of $15,000. While there is no limit on how much funding can be applied for, we hope to support as many projects as possible. Applications must be for a minimum of $500.

Applications for Round 2 are now open and close Tuesday 1 March 2016.

Go here for more information or contact the Coordinator Place management on 8408 1364.
