Waste and recycling service consultation

We know how important the kerbside waste and recycling is to you, so we are undertaking community consultation to find out how the service can be improved to best meet your needs.

We are now seeking feedback on your level of satisfaction with the current waste and recycling service delivered by Solo Resource Recovery – aka the regular pickup of the waste (blue lid), recycling (yellow lid) and organics (green lid) bins. Please share your views of the existing service and help us to identify future improvements.

To get involved you can:

The first 1,000 people to complete a survey (online and paper based) may receive a free mini wheelie bin! Go here for more information. Numbers are limited so you will need to get in quick.

Information on waste management services provided by Council is available here.

Consultation closes at 5pm on 22 April 2016.

  • I filled out the survey (Weelie Think) but didn't read the last bit about the possility of getting a free wheelie bin if I was in the first 1000. Did I miss something or will I be contacted if I am in the first 1000. Regards, Peter

    Hi Peter.

Instructions were at the end of the online survey - but they are easy to miss.

Go to any one of Councils libraries and tell the staff that you completed the wheelie bin survey online. There are still plenty available. Make sure you pop in by the 22 April - when the consultation closes.

  • Hi, I have a problem with someone going through my general waste bin. They have done this on more then one occasion including today ripped open the rubbish bags and gone through them. It seems to only be my bin & they don't touch the recycling bin so it's not to collect cans. I feel quite violated and am unsure what I can do to stop this, I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions? Thanks, From Karina

    Good morning Karina,

thank you for your comment. To minimise this we recommend that you put your bin out on the morning of collection (before 7am), rather than the night before. This will reduce the amount of time the bin is on the street. In our experience this generally helps with such a situation.

If you have further issues please feel free to give me a call on 8408 1224.

    Regards - Carole
