West Beach Road Upgrade

Consultation has concluded

The City of West Torrens, together with the City of Charles Sturt, Adelaide Shores and Adelaide Airport are preparing a concept plans to improve West Beach Road.


Project goals:

  • improve amenity and streetscape condition,
  • improve access and safety for residents along West Beach Road,
  • review parking arrangements on both sides of West Beach Road,
  • improve walking and cycling routes, and incorporate Water Sensitive Urban Design eg. rain gardens.

    Stage 1 of the community consultation, the ‘information gathering’ phase was undertaken in October 2013. The results are available here.

    Four road layout options have been prepared and are ready for community comment.

            • Where: Football Centre, West Beach Road

            On 16 April the newly formed West Beach Reference Group met and participated in a workshop on the West Beach Road Upgrade project.

            The four concept options were presented to the group. Following this Reference Group members participated in facilitated discussion and provided detailed feedback on the pros and cons of each option.

            The first stage of consultation on the West Beach Road Upgrade project was held in October 2013.


            The Stage 1 consultation process included:

            • mail-out to residents in both the City of West Torrens and City of Charles Sturt,
            • feedback form and display boards for on-site consultation session and Council websites,
            • ‘drop in’ session held at West Beach Road, adjacent Barratt Reserve on 10am-2pm Saturday, and
            • information and online survey on Council websites.

              It was estimated 80-100 people attended the on-site session. A total of 157 feedback forms were received.
