Henley South Coast ParkOn 23 July 2012, Council resolved to further consult with community over three design concepts for the Henley South section of Coast Park between Henley Beach Road and Ozone Street.

Mr Mark Douglas was engaged to run an independant consultation process. He met with many local community members and representatives to discuss and understand the range of views on this project.

A community workshop was held on Tuesday 18 September, 6.30-9pm at Henley Bowling Club.

Evaluation

Community members are now invited to complete the evaluation survey. Help us to consult better.

Community Workshop

A community workshop is being held on Tuesday 18 September, 6.30-9pm at Henley Bowling Club. Community members are invited to attend. To register for the workshop please contact Jenny on 8408 1510 or via email on jwatson@charlessturt.sa.gov.au

Consultation

Mr Mark Douglas, an experienced facilitator, has been engaged to run the consultation process. He has met with many local community members and representatives to discuss and understand the range of views on this project.

Consultation to date has identified key points of agreement across the community:

  • The Henley South Coast Path is a good idea and is widely supported.
  • Access to the beach is important
  • No reduction of car parking
  • The Esplanade is a gateway to a popular beach
  • Development should not impact number of people visiting the beach
  • Safety of road users and pedestrians should not be compromised as a result of the development
  • The section of coastline is wonderful resource and should be enjoyed by locals and the broader community
  • Seaview Roadfor pedestrian and vehicular traffic safety is a current concern
  • Development within the sand dunes is not supported by the majority
  • Council should not spend money unnecessarily
