Your City, Your Say - Draft Policy Consultation

This consultation has concluded.

Your City Your SayThe Draft Public Consultation Policy consultation is now closed.

The revised Policy outlines a contemporary set of guiding principles that underpin Council’s commitment and approach to community engagement, with the aim of guiding effective community engagement between Council and community.

You can have your say on the document by:

  • completing a survey;
  • commenting in the online forum;
  • asking staff a question online;
  • viewing the Draft Policy document in all Councils facilities; or
  • speak to a staff member at the Draft Policy display at Strategic Directions Report consultation event on 19 February, 6pm at Councils Administration Centre.

The revised Public Consultation Implementation Procedure is available for information purposes and provides recommended actions required to achieve the successful delivery of the Public Consultation Policy.

The Draft Public Consultation Policy and Implementation Procedure were developed with close consideration of: global trends, contemporary innovation in engagement practice, areas for improvement identified within the Consultation Evaluation project and the results of previous Your City, Your Say consultations.

To date a total of 335 community members, the Mayor, 16 Elected Members and 61 Council Staff have contributed feedback to the Your City, Your Say project. We now need your feedback to finalise the policy.

    The Your City, Your Say Evaluation was delivered from 28 September - 13 November 2012.

    Purpose of the evaluation was to:

    • Monitor performance and report on engagement projects run by council in the past 2 years
    • Assist to improve planning and the effectiveness of the community engagement projects council delivers
    • Develop an evidence base that contributes to shared learning’s and improvement of engagement practice across the organisation.

    A total of 113 community members, the Mayor, 3 Councillors and 61 Council staff contributed feedback to the evaluation.

    The consultation was designed to gather qualitative and quantitative feedback from a range of communities on the types of projects that interest them and the consultation and communication techniques that they prefer.
